Neil specializes in building long-term relationships and financial plans for his clients. He focuses on overseeing portfolio design and helping clients meet their financial goals while investing with their values
Neil graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and joined CIBC Wood Gundy in 1996. He holds the Canadian Investment Management (CIM) designation and is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI). Neil sits on our Victoria Branch CIBC Miracle Day Committee raising money for children's charities in our community. In 2017, our Victoria branch raised $308,347 in trading commissions, fee based revenues and cash donations bringing our branch running total to over $2.1 million raised since 2003.
Neil and his wife Lisa enjoy travel, great food and live music. Outdoor venues like the Chateau St. Michelle are a favourite. Their 5 children (one short of the Brady bunch!) keep them busy in the community supporting activities from swimming to soccer, from band to the occasional flying lesson. Neil plays in a recreational ice hockey league and can also be found on a "block walk" with Benton, the French bulldog. You can follow Benton on Instagram @benton_the_frenchie.

For over 20 years Graham has built rewarding long-term relationships with his clients. He is known for his quick wit and insightful observation that aid in financial planning and in his oversight of portfolio design. Graham and Neil founded the Blue Heron Advisory Group in 2013 to provide their clients with a higher and more comprehensive level of service.
Graham joined CIBC Wood Gundy in 1998 after a career as an officer in the Royal Canadian Navy. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Commander after serving in ships on both coasts and as a staff officer at Maritime Forces Pacific Headquarters in Esquimalt and Naval Reserve Headquarters in Quebec City. He is a graduate of the University of Alberta where he earned a Bachelor of Arts. He is also a graduate in the Joint Reserve Command and Staff Course from the Canadian Forces College. Graham holds the Canadian Investment Management (CIM) designation since 2000, he earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in 2002, and he is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI).
Graham is an enthusiastic runner, cyclist and triathlete (enthusiastic is an euphemism for tragically slow). Graham and his wife Diana are avid travelers and walkers with a growing list of destinations visited and dreamed of. They, and daughter Alexa, have recently welcomed a Bernadoodle puppy into their family. They named her Norte, after the Camino de Santiago trail in Spain which Graham and Diana walked in 2016 and will return to in 2020. You can follow Norte on Instagram @nortedoodle.
Courtney Lance , BA

Courtney focuses on managing our team operations and on financial planning for our clients.
Courtney joined the team in 2013, after graduating from the University of Victoria with Distinction with a degree in Economics and Business. She is now an Associate Investment Advisor with the Blue Heron Advisory Group and is currently pursuing her Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. Her previous experience includes banking and general insurance which fostered her passion for providing excellent client service.
Courtney is from the small town of Powell River and loves to travel. She has backpacked South America, explored South East Asia, Greece, Italy, Ireland and Maui, Mexico, and Croatia. At home, her and her husband, Cole, are settling into their first house in Esquimalt. Courtney likes to stay active through softball and volleyball. She begrudgingly jogs occasionally, too; but only when the team challenges her to the local TC10k.
James Spencer, B.Sc.
Financial Associate
James specializes in financial research and is responsible for executing the trading for our team.
James graduated from the University of Loughborough with an honours degree in Mathematics and Economics. James began his career as a public sector researcher in England. He moved to Canada in 2012 and joined CIBC Wood Gundy in Victoria in 2014.
James is the Brit on the team who brings the sarcasm, confusing accent and the best “cuppa” tea. He and his wife, Rebecca, are dog lovers. They have two border collies of their own which they rescued, and are often involved in boarding and training other's dogs. James plays cricket and hockey in local leagues and likes to snowboard. James and Rebecca are constantly outdoors, hiking or snowshoeing, and they like to road trip around the island and BC in their camper. James' love for the outdoors led him to undertake organizing the CIBC Victoria branch’s Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup in 2017.
Hanna Kent, BA
Client Associate
Hanna concentrates on the preparation of client review reporting, marketing updates and assisting with a variety of client requests.
Hanna graduated with distinction from the University of Victoria with a degree in Political Science and Business in 2013. Previously Hanna worked in the technology sector before joining CIBC Wood Gundy in January 2017.
In her free time, Hanna enjoys exploring Victoria, reading and hiking. She enjoys attending community events, music festivals, and visiting the museum and the IMAX.
