David believes in the importance of building and supporting communities. In Nova Scotia he is a supporter of the St. Francis Xavier University Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams as well as being the Men’s Champion Cup Sponsor of the St. F.X. Pucks for Purpose fundraiser.  He also established the Patrick C. Hanley Community Builder Award with the Antigonish Chamber of Commerce honoring those individuals who embody the philosophy of building stronger communities through service.  In addition, he supports a variety of charity golf tournaments in the province each year.

Through his Knighthood in the Order of Malta, he has worked with Maltese International in their support of the Internally Displaced People of Ukraine.  Along with an international group of volunteers, David has delivered aid to the country six times since the War in Ukraine started.  Through Maltese International, David was also able to visit The West Bank to witness the conditions and support the Bethlehem Maternity Hospital.
