During the Christmas break, when I was doing my post-mortem on the visa statement, I noticed we were paying money to Amazon Prime TV. In a very calm, sensitive, and understanding frame-of-mind, I decided to ask my soft-spoken wife why we were paying for this monthly subscription – in addition to the 1 million other subscriptions we seem to have... It was then I was told that I was the last person on the planet who hadn’t heard of Yellowstone...in addition to something else I was told.
Just in case there may be someone else in the readership who hasn’t heard, Yellowstone is a series staring Kevin Costner. It’s about a family defending their extremely large ranch in Montana from other motivated parties, using any means necessary.
My favourite part of the show is how it offers the opportunity to learn more about the hardworking nature of being a rancher. The scenery, tranquility, and the potentially tumultuous nature of life resonate pretty strongly throughout the now five seasons. It is definitely the type of show that makes me want to be a cowboy – even though I’m the furthest thing in the world from a cowboy and wouldn’t even be able to saddle a horse. As far as I can tell, the only thing I can ride is a market trend which, like a horse, is much easier to ride in the direction they are going. Right now, the market trend is still down - not time to bet the ranch yet.
