It's kind of cool to see how communities that are just making their plans to improve their lives and always focusing on the children.

We believe as much as you can read about, watch a movie about, we believe the highest chance for transformation to become truly a global citizen is by walking shoulder to shoulder with some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
And that creates transformation.
[Lijia on stage in La Pista speaking into microphone. Marvin joins here on stage and is presented with a jacket that the community of La Pista has made for him.]
And thank you all for being here and being part of this celebration.
[Two impact trip attendees in La Pista.]
It was just for me, an overwhelming message for the community, there's hope.

I feel very proud because I was there when they were in the wooden classrooms.
Yeah, bad situations without the heat inside the classrooms, I think they have very good facilities now.

What we envisioned when we started was that we would be able to impact communities in other countries and those communities would impact us.
And for sure when we go on these trips, when make these visits down there, there's change that happens.
You see the world in a different way.
[“La Pista, Guatemala, 150+ students will benefit each year in Honour of the Schmidt Family”. “Day three”. Global impact trip attendee begins speaking over aerial video of La Pista, then we see her in the La Pista community, before we see more imagery of children in La Pista.]
Every moment had its own unique meaning and purpose.
[Two global impact trip attendees and the global impact trip vehicles entering La Pista.]
We have seen pictures and videos, but the reality is completely different.
[Leah and other trip attendees being welcomed by the community of La Pista.]
I was struck by just that moment just gave you the realization that when we say it takes a village to raise a child, our village became so much bigger that day.
[Child who attended global impact trip, back home in Canada.]
It doesn't matter what colour of skin you have, it doesn't matter how much you have, that you're still all the same people the inside.
And so that's kind of what I took away from the trip.
[Child from trip playing with children from La Pista.]
Uno. Dos. Tres.
[“Shawn Plummer, CEO and President, Food for the Hungry Canada” in La Pista.]
For me, even though we've been talking and planning for three years to see it come to fruition is really exciting.
[“Chacalte, Guatemala, Expand Hope is building a school in 2019, 150+ student will benefit each year in Honour of Mascots Race for Hope 2018”.]

Our vision is to see every child have access to education.
The vision that we have at Expand Hope is really bold and we really do need to come together to make sure that we deliver on the promise that we're giving to the children of Guatemala.
[“Sinead McConomy, Client Associate, The Schmidt Investment Group”]
It was something these communities decided for themselves to better their children's lives.
Like a lot of people have said, I don't read, I don't know how to read and I don't know how to write, and I don't want that life for my children.
[“Antigua Xonca, Guatemala, Expand Hope is building a school in 2019, 150+ students will benefit each year, In Honour of The Schmidt Investment Group and Expand Hope Team.”]
There are so many things that happened on an impact trip.
[“Day five”. Imagery of La Pista community.]
The main thing I think that happens is you get to interact with the people that impact of walking alongside of a community.
This project affect my life.
Now, I am a professional, so I want to help my community because they helped me.
We have very specifically put together a program that will result in the highest success of human transformation toward global citizenship.
[Children in classroom raising their hands.]
And that is why we've created these global impact trips.
