Dan Kroeker brings 30 years of experience in the financial industry, spanning rural B.C. communities to downtown Vancouver.
Dan works closely with each client to customize an investment strategy that maximizes their returns. But Dan offers even more. He is committed to building a solid, long-lasting relationship with each and every client and this means understanding what they are ‘all about.' He takes the time to find out how they spend a Sunday afternoon or what their kids do that makes them laugh.
"What the client truly values and how they spend their time is important to understand when making a financial plan to meet their needs now and in the future."
Dan's clients will tell you they trust him. He is genuine, true to his word and honest. He operates on a policy of being proactive rather than reactive. Dan actively monitors accounts to take advantage of new opportunities and changing market conditions. This translates into a sound financial plan with risk adjusted rates of returns.
In addition to understanding each client's short and long-term objectives, Dan takes the time to assess their tolerance for risk. He asks questions and actively listens. He also ensures that all of the important pieces are in place to protect the integrity of the plan, from reviewing clauses in a client's will to making recommendations on their life insurance.
"If a client has an outstanding item on their ‘to-do' list, such as updating their will, I will call them again and again until it gets done."
Dan likes to meet face-to-face with his clients—'from Quesnel to Kamloops to the Lower Mainland —whenever possible, to review goals, strategies and portfolio performance. His clients enjoy regular access to him by phone and have peace of mind knowing he will return their calls promptly and follow-up on administrative issues.
"I'm not comfortable with emailing a form and leaving it at that. I like to talk to my client to make sure they understand exactly what we need. Then I figure out how to make it as easy as possible for them."
As the father of fifteen-year-old twins, Lauren and Danny, he understands the importance of teamwork at home. These team skills come into play at work, where Dan is part of an even bigger team. Each player on the team has a unique area of financial expertise. The sharing of information and strategies among the players adds value to every CIBC Wood Gundy client.
As a Scout leader, Dan is a mentor to more than a dozen boys aged six to eight. He shares his skills, and together with the boys, he learns new skills. Dan believes in the importance of making family a priority and is seasoned at reflecting this in his clients' financial plans.
Along with his two brothers and father, Dan is a fan of all things automotive. Starting with gokart racing in Prince George at age eight, Dan moved on to restoring cars. Restoring cars and building a financial plan are more similar than you might think.
"You never stop trying to make it better. You constantly persevere to find that ‘one last part' and every improvement is rewarding and adds value to the whole."
But Dan will be quick to tell you that as much as he loves his cars he would ‘give it all away tomorrow' for what matters most - his ‘easy-going' wife Rita, his ‘cheery' daughter Lauren, his son Danny ‘who always makes sure someone is watching when he does something cool' and his extended ‘family' which includes his clients.
