[Shari] So, Deacon Financial Management Group, we differentiate ourselves by first liking who we work with.

[Shari] Well, I can't speak for them, but as far as I'm concerned, we enjoy working together. We enjoy spending time with our clients and getting to know them. This isn't just a job. This is a passion.

[David] My name is David Deacon. I'm senior wealth advisor and portfolio manager for Deacon Financial Management Group. Our team specializes in preserving and growing wealth for families and businesses within Nova Scotia, and have done so for 42 years.
[A large black sign spelling 'WOLFVILLE' stands on a rocky shoreline overlooking calm water and marshland.]
[David] We make sure that we understand clients objectives and goals and tailor their portfolios and financial plans accordingly.
[John] We proactively watch the markets and change for certain market activity and tailor it to certain clients as well.

[John] So, we have estates, financial planning, insurance, trust advisors. So, it's not just your investments getting managed and your your portfolio being watched. It's the whole financial picture.
[David and John discuss a portfolio in John’s office.]
[David] It does require active portfolio management. Looking ahead at the potential obstacles valuing the market, looking at the macroeconomic environment, we are constantly analyzing the opportunities and the risks to make sure that we're in the right place at the right time for our clients.
[Shari has several computer monitors setup on her desk. She reviews with a portfolio with David.]
[Shari] And, we do not just put clients in particular holdings and leave it for the duration. Rather, we watch for opportunity. And as portfolio manager, we have the ability to work within the parameters that our clients give us to make those changes. Working with our clients and investments and helping them achieve their goals is all that we do.
[Shari meets with the client in her office. Later, sunlight filters through the letters of the Wolfville sign.]
[John] So, I think having a smaller client base allows us to focus more on each individual client. Having someone with complicated needs a large net worth. They require a lot of attention.
[Shari discusses the client’s portfolio with her.]
[Shari] So, not only do we have the time and ability to manage their portfolios, but we also have the additional time to put in to a higher level of client service.
[Shari and the client smile as they shake hands.]
[David] Having lived through six major market cycles, has provided me with the experience and knowledge and understanding of the markets that's required to protect client’s portfolios and their and their wealth through the good times and bad times. It's really important for investors to know the cost of advice or money management.
[Shari] It should never be the biggest decision when making an investment decision.
[David] And, the difference between cost and value, of course, is what you get for your fee. So, we feel that we are providing great, great value for the fee we charge.
[Sunlight blankets the calm body of water. An aerial view overlooks the water bordered by wide stretches of golden-brown marshland. In the foreground, buildings, a parking area, and tree-lined paths sit near the shoreline, with the Wolfville sign visible along the water’s edge.
[Shari] So, every day I wake up refreshed and ready. We're driven to help our clients succeed. And we're driven to meet those deeper relationships.
