Don Edwards, BA
I consistently adhere to my investment approach. At the same time, I am always challenging what I am doing to make sure that it is the best that I can do. I do this by asking these questions:
1) Is what I am thinking true?
2) Am I sure that what I am thinking is true?
3) How does what I am thinking colour my perception?
4) How would things look if I were to think differently?
Partnering with people and organizations who provide the best solutions available to my clients. The three main items on the checklist are:
1) Performance
2) Their values
3) Cost These people have to put the interests of my clients and myself before themselves, as I put the interests of my clients before mine.
Keeping it simple, I employ the back of the envelope theory. If you can't explain it on the back of an envelope, then it's too complicated. It worked for Steve Jobs. Measuring success by what I have been able to accomplish for my clients. Many may think that this means investment returns. This is obviously part of it, but it is much more than that. A well-designed plan, an accomplished goal, a dream come true or a problem solved. Helping clients stay true to their plan when the inevitable challenges of life present themselves is a part of my role. Communicating regularly with my clients. We discuss pertinent issues of the time. We discuss the "big picture" issues and I help them to have a healthy perspective. I focus on delivering superior service to my clients. A large part of this is the fact that I will address the difficult issues of life that many try to avoid.
