ASSET ALLOCATION
Devising the asset allocation is the first step to creating a successful portfolio for our clients. Strategic asset allocation reduces the volatility for each investor's portfolio, making it easier to avoid emotional responses to market volatility and allows for better long-term performance of the portfolio.
MARKET EFFICIENCY
We believe markets are efficient over the long-term, but inefficient over the short-term. History has shown that, over the long-term, stock markets have provided excellent returns to investors. In the short-term, however, markets are driven by emotion in the marketplace. We believe that we can make tactical asset allocation decisions to protect and enhance our clients' portfolios by reducing volatility in the short-term, while producing the returns our clients expect over the long-term.
STRATEGIC DIVERSIFICATION
Diversification is vitally important to help protect portfolios from individual securities but over-diversification also creates significant underperformance. As with many strategies, we strive to create balance between holding sufficient securities for the benefits of diversification, while avoiding over-diversification which leads to closet indexing, a passive investment approach.
ACTIVE MANAGEMENT
We believe that active management has both the potential for outperformance as well as the ability to reduce volatility in our clients' portfolios. We provide clients with the ability to have their portfolios actively managed on two levels: with tactical asset allocation and with individual security selection within those asset classes.
