Prior to joining CIBC Wood Gundy, he served as the Chief Investment Officer for another financial institution. As a discretionary Portfolio Manager, Jake devotes his time to pursuing strong risk adjusted returns on investments. Jake is available to discuss investment strategies, individual positions, market updates and meet with you to review your portfolios. Jake, a Victoria native, has a diploma in finance, a Bachelor of Commerce and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation (CFA).
Brian Smith, BA
Associate Investment Advisor
Brian has been an investor for over 35 years and joined CIBC Wood Gundy as an Investment Advisor in 2005. While his formal background is in Business Management and Accounting, he has enjoyed successful careers in the private sector as well, including a wide range of real estate investment and management positions. Brian's clients have benefited from this diverse background and he continues to focus on client service and advice respecting investment, retirement and estate planning matters. Outside of the office, Brian can be found on the golf course, fishing, or travelling internationally.
Susan Toombs
Administrative Assistant
Sue brings to the team extensive experience in office administration and management. She handles a variety of administrative responsibilities including account documentation, withdrawals, RRIF payments, TFSA and RRSP contributions and various client requests. She is focused on developing and maintaining customer service. Sue joined the team in December of 2019 and will be able to answer or direct any administrative questions you may have.
Paolina McDonough
Administrative Assistant
Paolina has worked in the financial industry since 2022 before joining the team at CIBC Wood Gundy in 2026. Educated in Victoria, she holds a diploma in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance. Paolina is responsible for trading in clients’ accounts, administrative tasks and being a first point of contact for any inquiries you may have. In her spare time, Paolina can be found playing soccer, enjoying a game of tennis or testing out a new recipe in the kitchen.
