I strongly believe that giving back to my community is the best way to show appreciation for my own good fortune in life. I am proud to participate in many local fundraising and mentoring programs and I am inspired by the good work I see others doing.
I currently sit on the boards of the Merrymount Children's Centre and the Muslim Association of Canada (MAC). Merrymount is a charity committed to providing around the clock support and crisis care for children and families. Merrymount delivers services and programs to strengthen children and their families in times of transition. MAC is also a charity and provides social, educational, and religious services and programs designed to assist in the development of individuals, families and the community.
I participate in several fundraising events including The Run for the Cure, The Walk to End Breast Cancer, and The Make A Wish Run. I find it most fulfilling to work and interact directly with those who need our support. I have worked with Meals on Wheels delivering hot meals to the elderly, organized volunteering efforts at the United Way, and had the great pleasure of teaching money sense and economic topics to at-risk children in inner-city schools with Junior Achievement of Canada.
Meeting and interacting with different individuals in various situations has enriched my life, as I hope it has enriched theirs.
