Lon Harnish, B.Comm., CIM, FCSI, CFP
Lon Harnish brings over 40 years of investment experience to assist his clients in achieving their financial goals and objectives.
He obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is a former bank manager and spent 15 years with a leading Trust company. During that time he assisted his clients in their investment, retirement, estate planning and credit needs. He has dealt with a wide range of clients including many who took early retirement. Mr Harnish has been an investment advisor for over 25 years. He continues to use his experience and knowledge to successfully assist his clients in the areas of retirement, investment and financial planning.
In addition to his business experience, Lon has numerous professional designations including the Certified Financial Planner and Certified Investment Manager designations. In addition, he is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute. He also has his level 2 insurance license. Lon is required to complete a minimum of 30 hours per year of continuous learning as part of his professional commitment. The "FCSI" designation is recognized as the most prestigious designation in the industry.
Mr. Harnish is a resident of Oshawa and is married with two children. He is involved in numerous community and civic organizations. Lon is a member of The Rotary Club of Ajax. (over 35 years). He is a former council member of Durham Red Cross. (over 30 years) and a former volunteer in local youth sports. Lon received The Queen's Jubilee medal and The Paul Harris award for his volunteer work.
Lon's background, education and training allow him to offer a full range of services and solutions including fixed income investments, equities, retirement and estate services, individual portfolio planning and the building of wealth over the long term.

With experience in financial planning, mutual funds, life insurance and employee benefits, he is well positioned to help advisors service their affluent clients, including business owners and individual investors. Tax and estate planning is key to wealthy clients, in particular post-mortem tax planning. Doug’s understanding of clients’ needs, along with his keen interest in helping others, helps shape personalized plans for clients. On weekends he enjoys spending time with his family, golf, hockey and boating.
Kevin Smith
Manager, Commercial Banking
Kevin Smith is a Manager with CIBC Commercial Banking. His goal is to use a relationship based approach to add value to his clients businesses in all areas.
He obtained an Honours Economics degree from the University of Ottawa, with a minor in Business Administration. He also has a Business Administration diploma from Durham College. He has a diverse background of experiences from being a Project Accountant as well as having worked in Financial Planning & Analysis at a multinational engineering firm. These experiences have given him valuable insights into how businesses operate from a bank client perspective.
Kevin is a resident of Bowmanville, and has lived in the Durham Region for over 30 years. Outside of the office, he is committed to involvement in the community. He is a member of multiple committees for the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce and a participant in the Junior Achievement program.
Through regular discussion with his clients, holistic and frequent reviews of their accounts, and expertise in numerous industries he is able to provide proactive solutions that go beyond their banking needs.
