OUR TEAM
Lois P. Smith, FCSI, CIM®
Senior Wealth Advisor
Lois has had the privilege of being a trusted advisor to families from across Canada for over 35 years.
Lois is passionate about supporting our clients who make extraordinary contributions to society through their careers, entrepreneurship and philanthropy. Smith Falconer Financial Group is built on the depth of intergenerational relationships with clients, enabling bespoke strategies and recommendations.
Lois and the long-standing team employ a disciplined investment methodology, combining equity portfolios with allocations to strategies from best-in-class managers across conventional and alternative asset classes. Lois has the Certified Investment Management (CIM®) designation and believes in the value of creating the appropriate team of experts for each client. She works closely with clients' accountants to maximize tax efficiency, risk and return. By engaging CIBC partners in wealth and estate planning, family enterprise advisory, and private banking, our clients benefit from the resources of the bank through one point of contact.
There is no higher compliment than to be introduced to the friends and family of our clients.
Giving back is a priority for Lois and the team, who make significant annual contributions to CIBC Miracle Day and the CIBC Run for the Cure. She is proud to lead the Wonder Women of Wealth team for the Run, raising over $500,000 for breast cancer research in 2021.
When she’s not serving her clients, Lois can be found at her family cottage in Kennebunk Beach, Maine, or skiing at Devils Glen in the winter. She is married and has two adult children.
Rodney D. Falconer
Senior Wealth Advisor
Since joining the industry in 1997, Rodney has experienced a full range of investment events. He’s known for being calm and creating a serene environment for clients. Clients tell him they feel better about their concerns after they speak with him.
Smith Falconer Financial Group believes a financial plan is the most important first step for our clients. Knowing what’s most important to them, we can build an investment strategy to support their goals. Our clients avoid getting absorbed in the day-to-day market excitement by remembering they are invested for the long-term, not weeks, or months.
What’s most satisfying to Rodney is when conversations aren’t just about money, and clients’ share their personal experiences. That’s when we know we have built a relationship of trust. Often clients will say, “I don’t even look at my statements”, signaling their confidence. And referrals to family and friends is another indicator of the care and commitment we show our clients.
Rodney always aims to leave any situation better than he found it. Being aware of how he can serve others and helping those less fortunate is a passion for Rodney and his family.
Rodney and his wife Lisa live in Etobicoke with their three children. Spending time with family and friends at their Lake of Bays cottage or enjoying St. George’s Golf and Country Club and Bigwin Island Golf Course are special highlights for them.
