What We Offer Institutional Clients
Investment Policy Statement Development
Every disciplined institutional portfolio begins with a written Investment Policy Statement that clearly articulates the organization’s objectives, risk tolerance, return requirements, time horizon, liquidity needs, and any restrictions. We work with your board or investment committee to develop or refresh this foundational document, ensuring it reflects both the organization’s mission and the legal obligations of its fiduciaries.
Asset Allocation & Portfolio Construction
Drawing on the IPS, we design a strategic asset allocation that balances the organization’s return requirements against its capacity for risk. For endowments and foundations, this typically involves balancing the need to preserve capital in real terms with the obligation to support current distributions. For insurance companies, we account for liability duration, regulatory capital requirements, and the need for liquidity. We build portfolios using a combination of passive and active strategies, selected on the basis of expected net-of-fee value added.
Ongoing Governance & Reporting
We provide regular, clear investment reports designed for board and committee consumption, covering portfolio performance, positioning, and any recommended adjustments. We attend investment committee meetings and present directly to the board when required. Our goal is to make governance straightforward and well-documented.
Sustainable Distribution Planning
For foundations and endowments with distribution obligations, we model spending rates against projected portfolio returns to ensure the organization’s capital base is sustainable over the long term. We help committees think through the trade-off between current distributions and intergenerational equity.
