Our fixed income strategy is designed to be the stabilizing force in your portfolio. It is intended to provide a counter-balance to the unpredictability of the stock market by giving you a level of comfort knowing that a portion of your portfolio is held in guaranteed investments. The following aspects are considered when creating the strategy: Maximizing safety of capital Predictability of income and maturities Protection vs. interest rate fluctuations Unique cash flow and liquidity requirements Smoother yield over time These objectives are accomplished by creating a schedule of securities that mature in equal amounts from 1-5 years. We recommend securities with a government guarantee (Canadian Government, Provincial Government or GIC with CDIC Coverage) to ensure that your investments are absolutely safe. We intend to hold securities until their maturity date and reinvest maturing proceeds keeping with the laddered strategy. | Our growth strategy is designed to produce long-term returns approximately in-line with world stock markets but with lower volatility. We believe that a patient investor makes better investment decisions, however, we also recognize that investing is emotional and being patient is not always easy. Our strategy is created with the intention of reducing the impact of market down-periods allowing our clients to stay invested and generate long-term positive returns. To accomplish this, we recommend a variety of money managers that pick the individual stocks that make up portfolios. Our selection of money managers make investment decisions on the stocks that are held in portfolios based on the fundamental analysis of individual companies. They do not attempt to time the market. Specific managers are selected to ensure portfolios are diversified by sector, geography and investment style. Our global investment philosophy emphasizes exposure outside of Canada to provide access to larger, more diverse global markets. This ensures a larger selection of investment opportunities and improves portfolio diversification by accessing sectors not prevalent in Canada (i.e. healthcare, technology). |
