Andrew McDonald, CIM
Senior Wealth Advisor
Portfolio Manager
Andrew’s career is built on relentless hard work and a passion for financial markets. Early in his career, he was known to work through the night – evidenced by him wearing the same suit two days in a row - immersing himself in portfolio construction and market research. Today, as the leader and Portfolio Manager of The McDonald Group, that same dedication fuels his mission to deliver thoughtful, strategic financial guidance to his clients.
He learned the value of client dedication and a strong work ethic from his mentor, Joyce, whose 35-year career shaped his approach to wealth management. Her lessons instilled in him a commitment to trust, long-term vision, and innovative thinking - all with a client-first focus.
Andrew holds a BA from the University of Toronto and is a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM). He is licensed in insurance and options, and uses his knowledge to build specialized derivative based strategies. While his all-nighters are behind him, he remains deeply committed to staying ahead of market trends, often working late to connect with clients and catch up on research.
Having immigrated from Jamaica at a young age, he embodies the modern Canadian success story. This experience gives him gratitude and inspiration to be actively involved with initiatives such as the CIBC Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee. He supports CIBC Miracle Day, youth financial literacy programs, Triple Threat girls' basketball, and local food banks. As a frequent speaker at MBA programs at the Schulich School of Business and the Rotman School of Management, he shares his expertise to inspire the next generation of financial professionals.
Outside of work, Andrew enjoys traveling with his wife, Shawna, and their two children. He regularly hosts dinner gatherings for friends and family, valuing the connections that come from shared experiences. His passion for leadership extends beyond finance—he actively fosters teamwork, communication, and trust through workshops and team-building initiatives, principles that shape his approach to both life and business.

Luke Robertson, CFA
Luke’s interest in wealth management comes from his family’s history in the auto business, which brought both successes and challenges. The dynamics created by this unique life experience - both familial and financial - has shaped his attitude towards professional management and showed him the value of strategic guidance and smart financial leadership. "My experience drives me to help others to avoid certain pitfalls, and to build and protect their wealth for generations to come."
As an avid football fan, Luke received much of his organizational influence from hall-of-fame coaches who believed in a process. "Bill Belichick won six Superbowl's because of The Patriot Way; I try to apply this concept to everything I do." Adapted from the field to finance, his process is a framework that emphasizes planning and execution, believing that when each step of the process is executed with diligence and precision, the desired outcome is more likely.
As an Associate Investment Advisor, Luke stands out through his passion in building authentic relationships founded on trust, credibility, and reliability. He takes the time to understand each client’s unique circumstances, goals, and aspirations, crafting personalized investment strategies that align these objectives with their values. Devoted to helping clients in everyway possible, he provides them with seamless integration to the powerful resources of CIBC for personal or business needs.
Luke holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Guelph and has been a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder since 2019. To provide clients with complete solutions he is also licenced in insurance and options trading. Committed to continuous learning, he is currently pursuing the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
"For New Years I always wish people good health and wealth. To me, these are two key pillars to a successful, happy life, and I try to live with this simple idea in mind." In the early morning you can find Luke in the gym, and in the evenings he often has a book in hand - exploring history, psychology or politics to deepen his understanding of financial topics and economic trends. In his mind he's a Michelin Star chef, and loves to explore his creativity in the kitchen, cooking for friends and family.
