Mark Coy, CPA, CA
Mark brings to this partnership over 20 years of local and international experience in the financial services industry. After receiving his Chartered Accountant designation with Honours in 2001, Mark and his wife Kerstin moved to Bermuda where he worked for one of the "Big 5" accounting firms. Mark was quickly recruited by a very successful hedge fund managing over $4 billion dollars in assets providing him the opportunity to work alongside some of the top financial minds in the world.
In 2007 Mark and his young family moved back to Fredericton so their kids could grow up closer to family and their New Brunswick roots. Since then Mark has been working with CIBC Wood Gundy where he and his team have built a sizable practice by focusing on what's best for their clients' financial health.
By forming key strategic partnerships, Mark and his team have been able to complement their own professional experiences with that of their partners to ensure that they're providing the best solutions and advice to their clients. Mark specifically focuses on security selection, risk management and tax and retirement cash flow planning.
Spending quality time with his family is a personal goal for Mark. Whether he's coaching his kids' sports teams or spending time with his family as their personal fly fishing guide wading through the Miramichi River, being together is the focus.
Mark holds the Chartered Accountant (CA) designation and is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).
Jason VanderToorn, CFA
Jason brings to this partnership over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry including 9 years as an institutional pension plan portfolio manager.
Jason began his career in financial services in Halifax, Nova Scotia. His journey took him through St. Stephen, New Brunswick and finally here in Fredericton where he has been since 1999. With the goal of differentiating himself from a crowded financial services landscape he attained a prestigious, globally recognize investment management designation through the CFA Institute in Virginia. Successfully attaining the CFA designation allowed him to work for nine years as an Equity Portfolio Manager for one of the largest institutional pension plan organizations in Atlantic Canada. Portfolio construction/risk management/security analysis and selection/asset allocation were part of his job mandate. He believes that many of the best practices implemented in an institutional environment are easily replicated in the private client environment, with the necessary experience and understanding of these strategies.
Jason and his wife Shawna have three children and are active members of the community in volunteer capacities. Jason has been a Director at the Fredericton Community Foundation and is past Chair of the Fredericton YMCA Operating and Endowment Boards. He currently is the Chair of the YMCA Canada Defined Benefit Pension Plan Board of Trustees.
Along with playing basketball and golf, Jason enjoys spending his spare time coaching his childrens' basketball and soccer teams while camping on the weekends!
Jason holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a graduate of Acadia University with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Alex MacKinnon
Alex has been with Wood Gundy for 13 years. He focuses on comprehensive wealth management for his clients, including retirement cash flow planning, portfolio construction, & risk management. Alex is a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) & graduate of Acadia University.
As an active member of the community, he has held several volunteer positions including with the Fredericton Homeless Shelter, Beaverbrook Art Gallery, & currently serves on the Board of Directors for Hospice Fredericton.
Alex, along with his wife & son, enjoy an active lifestyle of hiking, biking, camping & skiing.
Sheena Hathaway
Sheena plays an integral role in building long-term relationships with our clients. She started her career with CIBC in 2008 and moved to Wood Gundy in 2013 to help build the Coy VanderToorn Advisory Group.
As the primary point of contact, she provides exceptional client service by managing clients' needs and fulfilling varied requests in a timely fashion. Sheena handles a large portion of our trade execution and meeting preparation. Sheena is industry registered (Canadian Securities Course and Wealth Management Essentials course). She holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Dalhousie University.
Greg Toole
Greg is a seasoned professional in the field of wealth management, boasting 14 years of dedicated experience in guiding individuals and families towards financial success. Greg earned his degree from the University of New Brunswick, where he honed his skills and passion for finance.
Greg’s journey in the financial world has been marked by continuous growth and achievement. Holding the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation reflects his commitment to excellence and adherence to industry standards. Greg is diligently working towards obtaining the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation, further enhancing his expertise to better serve our clients' diverse needs and aspirations.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Greg finds joy in spending quality time with his amazing wife, Megan, and their two adorable dogs, Mabel and Doug. Whether it's exploring the outdoors or simply enjoying a cozy evening at home, these moments bring balance and fulfillment to his life.

Taylor LeBlanc, CPA
Taylor began his career with a Big 4 accounting firm where he provided tax and assurance services to a variety of clients while also working towards his Chartered Professional Accountant designation. After receiving his CPA designation, Taylor was recruited by a boutique wealth management firm in Halifax where he provided financial, tax, and estate planning support for the firm’s advisors and their clients.
In 2024, Taylor, his fiancé, and their daughter moved back to Fredericton so that their young family can be closer to family and friends. Since then, Taylor has been working with the Coy VanderToorn Advisory Group. Taylor believes in a holistic and proactive approach to wealth management, ensuring that all aspects of a clients’ situation are considered. His experience in tax and estate planning makes him qualified to implement tax efficient wealth building strategies for business owners and incorporated professionals.
Along with playing hockey and golf, spending quality time with his fiancé EmmaRae and their newborn daughter Lennon brings joy and balance to his life.
Taylor holds a Chartered Professional Account (CPA) designation and is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Kerstin Coy
Kerstin joined the Coy VanderToorn Advisory Group in 2017 and brings with her over 25 years of experience in leadership, human resources and practice management. She supports the team in the areas of strategic planning and practice management.
After receiving her Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from UNB in 1996, Kerstin began working for a small start-up, and as the company quickly grew she became the Human Resources Manager. This is when her passion for creating dynamic and healthy workplaces by working smarter began.
In 2001, she and her husband moved to Bermuda where she worked for the island’s largest telecommunications company and became a member of their Senior Management team. In 2007, Kerstin and her family moved back to Fredericton so their kids could grow up closer to family and their New Brunswick roots.
In 2008, Kerstin joined the public service as a manager in Human Resources. There she had the opportunity to take part in many special projects providing her with training in the areas of Change, Project and Formal Management. She also received her Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) certification, a nationally recognized level of achievement within the field of human resources.
Outside of the office Kerstin is committed to her family and friends. Her days are filled with driving her kids to their sports, fitting in her own daily workouts, spending quality time with her friends and traveling with her husband Mark whenever they can get away!

Bruce brings with him a strong analytical and mathematical background, having earned his MSc. in Mathematics from Dalhousie University.
