Our Investment Approach, Explained in Four Steps
Our clients know that the work we do together is, and has always been, all about them and their most cherished financial goals. We follow a refined and repeatable investment process that gives our clients that fortunate feeling that their finances are managed in the best possible way to help them achieve a lifetime of financial security. We call it the "Four Steps to Fortunate."
FOUR STEPS TO FORTUNATE
Step 1: Establish Your Financial Goals
The most important thing for us as advisors is to get a complete understanding of your most cherished financial goals. Your goals are at the centre of all the work we do together. This involves a conversation around what, and who, you are investing for.
Step 2: Clarify Your Capital
Next, we figure out exactly where you stand today in terms of your financial position. We will clarify the total net value of your assets, and determine how much cash needs to flow where, to maintain your lifestyle now and in the future. For those familiar with accounting, this is the part where we build your own personal balance sheet and cash flow statement.
Step 3: Build a Financial Plan
Here is where the rubber meets the road. We will build a robust lifetime financial plan that shows what needs to be done today, next year, the year following, and so on, to reach your financial goals in the future. This plan will cover all areas of your financial picture: investments, education planning, retirement, tax efficiency, risk management, and your legacy. Keep in mind that this plan is a living and breathing document; as life changes, so too will the plan. We will regularly revisit the plan and finetune it where needed.
Step 4: Trust the Process
Once the plan is in place, we will be here to help you stick to it and stay on track through all the strains of an investing lifetime. We are going to help you trust the process. In the long run, this is the most important thing we will do for you.
If this approach makes sense to you, make sure you know our three guarantees.
