Community

As locals, the team at Mannings Wealth Management are strong believers in supporting community organizations both financially and with time. Some of the important community groups they have been involved with are:

Miracle Day

CIBC Miracle Day is a proud tradition that has helped to improve the lives of millions of children since it began in 1984. Since its inception, CIBC Miracle Day has raised over $100 million for children's charities across Canada and $250 million globally.

CIBC Miracle Day

Every year, committed CIBC employees and their clients help make miracles happen for kids in need on CIBC Miracle Day.

Bottom line, Miracle Day is to give these kids the same chance that my kids have and your kids have. The name of our business is feeding kids, to make sure that every kid has an equal playing field to be able to concentrate and to learn.

I think the value of Miracle Day for our firm is that it helps define our role in the community.

CIBC Miracle Day is an employee driven fund raiser that started at a Wood Gundy branch in 1984. Every year on the first Wednesday in December, CIBC's wholesale banking employees and participating CIBC Wood Gundy Investment Advisors donate their fees and commissions to help kids in need.

To make the difference locally is a huge issue for us and for our clients.

Miracle Funding supports over 450 children's charities across Canada, like the Holland Clearview Children's Rehabilitation Hospital. The CIBC Therapeutic Playroom is a non-medical environment within the hospital where children come to learn and grow through play.

The CIBC playroom let me have relief. The families and children that we are so grateful. CIBC Miracle Day funding helps alleviate the impact of poverty in more than 125 communities across Canada. Together, we help keep kids in school, support mentoring and leadership programs, provide nutritious food and healthy activities, keep kids safe and fund innovative therapy for kids with disabilities.

Being connected to organizations that benefit from Miracle Day is a highlight of my job. It's like I get to choose what I do and I can do art or I can play basketball in a gym.

Breaks your heart that these kids are disadvantaged. So any time you get an opportunity to step up and help, you want to be involved.

Makes me feel like I'm making a big difference. It's important as a corporate citizen to give back to the community. It makes me proud to work at CIBC.

It's been very successful. Raised 60 million dollars for all those years. It is the right to do.

Every trade CIBC makes on Miracle Day could help make a miracle happen. Get involved. Spread the word.

PROUD COMMUNITY SPONSORSHIPS

KOOTENAY LAKE HOSPITAL FOUNDATION:

Has been the recipient of much support from both Ed and CIBC Wood Gundy. Ed is proud to have received their donor award of excellence for the past 16 years. Ed has also been involved in a key advisory role since the inception of the foundation.

NELSON CYSWOG'N:

Ed has represented CIBC Wood Gundy and its predecessor company as the first ever major sponsor and continuing sponsor for over 30 years of this important community event.

TOUCHSTONES NELSON MUSEUM OF ART AND HISTORY:

A Nelson institution on which Ed served a full six-year term. Ed was instrumental in the fundraising, construction, staffing, and business planning for their new facility in Nelson's old city hall. The new museum and art gallery has become a successful part of Nelson's cultural scene.

THE NELSON ROTARY CLUB:

Provides services both to the local community and internationally. Ed was a proud and involved member of the club on many levels for over 15 years, including fundraising, sitting on their Executive, and providing hands on work on many community projects, particularly Rotary Lakeside Park.

SELKIRK COLLEGE BOARD OF GOVERNORS:

Ed served a full six-year term. The highlights of Ed's involvement with the College included playing a key role in the establishment of the music program in Nelson, and in creation and early management of their charitable foundation.

NELSON AND DISTRICT ARTS COUNCIL

Michelle has volunteered as the Treasurer of the Nelson and District Arts Council coming to her 6 year term. In addition, Michelle and CIBC Wood Gundy have donated $500 to the Rural Artists Retreat for the previous 6 years. This donation has allowed an artist each year to spend a week at the retreat focusing on a creative endeavor to put fourth once emerging from the quiet.

NELSON FRIENDS OF THE FAMILY

Ed, Michelle and CIBC Wood Gundy on behalf of Miracle Day have donated to Nelson Friends of the Family for the previous 6 years. These proceeds allow for families in the community with sick children to have travel costs covered when needing treatment and appointments outside the Kootenay Boundary.
