Discovery Process

Discover Client Story: Everyone has their own personal story that makes them unique and defines their beliefs. To help us meet your expectations, we listen carefully to your stories to discover how your path brought you here.

Discover Client Objectives: What is important to you that takes money, planning and time?

Intro to NPAG Philosophy: Providing you with peace of mind has been the main goal of the Nick Polychronopoulos Advisory Group (NPAG) from the start, and we believe in taking a holistic approach that addresses more than just your money.

Intro to NPAG Process: The Nick Polychronopoulos Advisory Group (NPAG) has developed a unique process which ensures no key aspect of wealth management is overlooked. From a personalized financial plan to diversified discretionary portfolios, we provide a pro-active, disciplined, and objective investment approach that is fee-based and all-inclusive, aligning our interests with yours. This allows us to bring you more value and service.

Gather Your Information: These are the adminstrative items that are relevant to setting up your accounts, including but not limited to tax documents, statements, and personal & corporate identification.

Create Investment Policy Statement: The IPS is an agreement we create together which states the responsibilities and obligations we all have in order to make our relationship successful, and indicates how your funds will be invested in terms of your specific asset allocation, time frame, risk tolerance, and objectives.

Open Accounts & Transfer Assets: Depending on the delivering institution, the transfer process typically takes 5-10 business days and can also range anywhere from 1 - 25 days.

Portfolio Implementation: We can then begin implementing your strategy by structuring your portfolio in accordance with your IPS.

Complete Financial Planning Kit: This take-home kit fully outlines the further information needed for the creation of your customized financial plan.

Retirement Planning

Present Financial Overview: The result of the financial planning kit includes an overview of your complete financial picture: assets, income, family tree, business structure, and personal data. Having this information compiled is extremely valuable for future planning, tracking, and estate purposes.

Review Cash Flow Analysis: You will be provided with a detailed cash flow analysis that exceeds industry standards. It is derived from the financial plan and provides accurate projections of income stream, net worth, portfolio value, tax liabilities, and more for each year of the plan. This enables us to consider alternate financial scenarios and provide valuable recommendations about your portfolio, investment strategies, and key life decisions.

Establish & Review Goals: Goals aren't just about wealth targets, they revolve around realizing a dream or desired lifestyle. At every key meeting, we will review them together to ensure you are on track and to provide a clear picture of your progress.

Discuss Next Steps: At the end of every meeting, we discuss the next steps necessary to establish expectations and keep the plan moving forward.

Estate Planning

Why diagram: provide for family, transfer assets faster, reduce taxes, plan for disabilities, and have control.

Review Goals: Good advice and preemptive planning can aid in a trouble-free, tax efficient settlement of an estate at a difficult time for those left behind.

Roundtable: To ensure our advice is part of a complete picture that considers taxes, estates, corporate structures, and family trusts, at times we will arrange a roundtable discussion with you, your lawyer, and accountant, to properly coordinate your financial strategy.

Review Portfolio: On a semi-annual or annual basis, we will meet with you to present the state of your investments and review the entire portfolio together, providing a performance analysis, market updates, recommendations, and confirm your investment strategies remain relevant for your evolving needs.

Discuss Will: A well-written will is the single most important document to direct an executor on how your estate should be dispersed. We always address this key planning step and can provide guidance on finding a good estate lawyer.

Discuss Power of Attorney: It is also important to designate a trusted individual as your Power of Attorney (POA) in the event you may become incapacitated. We can walk you through this process to ensure you have one in place and when necessary, work with your POA to ensure your finances are properly cared for.

Succession Planning

Introduction to Family: It is important for us to get to know your family. We can advise on many issues that concern your parents, children, and siblings, whether it is regarding inheritances, education funding, insurance needs, beneficiaries, or trusts, and can extend the same service and advice we provide to all of our clients to your loved ones. Knowing your family creates a deeper relationship and understanding when we are helping guide decisions on how your wealth is protected, invested, and shared.

Discuss Wealth Transfer: As advisors, it would be difficult to watch your hard-earned wealth be passed to beneficiaries who may be poorly equipped to make sound financial decisions. Your heirs should have solid professional advice and a clear financial plan. We strive to know your family and develop plans for wealth transition which consider educational needs, tax planning, and legal advice, for the benefit of your successors and the protection of your legacy.

Philanthropy

Discuss Tax Minimization: One of the key areas we focus on is working with you and your accountant to provide strategies that minimize your tax burden. Based on your needs and goals, we provide investment insight that takes into account your unique tax situation.

Explore Gifting to Family: What is the most efficient way to provide monetary gifts to family members? Everyone's situation is different depending on time, age, intended use of the funds, family dynamics, and the intended recipient's knowledge of finances. These concerns regarding gifting in an effective, tax-efficient, and non-disruptive way can be addressed by having a well thought out plan as part of your overall wealth strategy.

Explore Charitable Giving: We often hear from clients, "How do we support our favourite charities?". While charitable giving can be a wonderful way to share wealth and is usually pretty straightforward, it can include issues around how the donation will be used, how to raise the funds from investments, tax considerations, and how to structure the gift to maximize the benefit to your charity or charities of choice. We help you feel comfortable about gifting efficiently to causes about which you are most passionate.

Insurance

Review Insurance Needs: Appropriate insurance coverage provides you with peace of mind that your loved ones will be cared for. Creating your financial plan allows us to determine if you would benefit from insurance or if your existing coverage is adequate to meet their needs. Our team incudes insurance specialists who can provide access to the most cost effective and tax efficient insurance strategies for individual and corporate needs.

Value Added Services

Events: We provide the opportunity to meet experts in a number of fields outside of wealth management, and creating educational, appreciation, and networking events is a chance for us to give back to our clients in a way that recognizes your passion for life and learning. Events are held on a range of topics from gardening, health and fitness, travel, and much more.

Client Feedback Survey: Your feedback is our most valued piece of information. We want to know if you are happy with your experience and about the areas in which we can improve. Our pursuit to be the very best wealth management team can only be realized with open dialogue and constructive feedback from you.
