Mr. Smallwood completed his university education in Halifax, Nova Scotia, before beginning his investment career with CIBC Wood Gundy. Ray graduated from the Masters in Business Administration program at Saint Mary's University after obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree from Dalhousie University.
Mr. Smallwood joined CIBC Wood Gundy in 1979 and, after a brief period in Toronto, worked in the Halifax Branch for two years before being appointed Branch Manager of the St. John's Branch in 1982. Mr. Smallwood was made a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute in 1994. In addition, Mr. Smallwood has earned his Certified Investment Manager designation and his Associate Portfolio Manager designation. Mr. Smallwood successfully managed the St. John's Branch for 25 years, and stepped down from the managerial position in the spring of 2007.
Mr. Smallwood has not only been active in his industry association, but has also served on a variety of charitable boards and task forces. In the Provincial Industry Association, Ray has held a number of executive positions including acting as Chairman for six years. Mr. Smallwood has also served as Chairman of the National Advisory Council, and completed a term as a member of the National Board of Directors of the Investment Dealers Association.
As an active member of the community, Mr. Smallwood is a past president and director of the Arthritis Society, as well as a past member of the Board of Directors for the Public Legal Information Association and the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra. In addition, Ray is an active member of the St. John's Rotary Club. Ray was appointed to the Government Task Force that developed the Newfoundland and Labrador Development Savings Bonds and the Newfoundland Stock Savings Plan. Mr. Smallwood also served as a member of the Advisory Board on the economy for the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. This board provided advice on economic and business matters to the Premier and his cabinet. Mr. Smallwood was a member of the Argentia Navel Base Pension Committee for eight years and is currently a member of both the Memorial University Pension Committee and the Workers Compensation Investment Committee.
Recently, Mr. Smallwood completed terms on the board of the Atlantic Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and the General Hospital Health Foundation. Both Ray and his wife, Cathy, have been active on School Councils. In addition Ray served as the Chair of the Corporate fundraising campaign for the new Ches Penny Family YMCA. Mr. Smallwood has been the largest provincial fundraiser for the CIBC Run for the Cure for over 10 years and was co-chair for the $1.8 million "Dare to Care" fundraising campaign for Memorial University.
Mr. Smallwood has generally dedicated his business efforts to the development of a conservative, low risk, quality oriented investment style. Ray believes that controlling risk will generally go a long way to avoiding mistakes and ensuring long term consistent investment performance. Mr. Smallwood resides in St. John's with his wife Cathy and their three children, who are all recent recipients of both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Ray's hobbies include reading, golf and alpine skiing.

Harvey Ltd., the company achieved countrywide recognition for its service-oriented style and its attention to detail. The company provided employment to over 80 Newfoundlanders and their families. The company placed great importance on supporting locally owned suppliers in Newfoundland. In 1994, Rick sold his interest in the company. In 1996, he started on his second career with CIBC Wood Gundy. This opportunity offered Rick a chance to work with his true passion – investments. A love of investing and of sharing this knowledge with clients and colleagues has provided Rick with great challenge and opportunity: Challenge to ensure no stone is unturned amid the turbulence in the financial markets and opportunity to ensure clients will be given advice that will make a material difference in their lives. Rick's business background provides him with the necessary experience that will assist business owners and managers. They require a sound financial base and advice on investments, taxation, insurance and estate planning. These are the building blocks of the future.
Rick and Ray became partners in 2002 while Ray was the manager of the St. John's Branch. In 2005, Rick took the necessary steps to become the Assistant Branch Manager of the office.

Josh is an award-winning global business manager, building analytics to bring transparency to the financial markets and advising some of the largest money managers in the world, including multinational corporations, pension funds, hedge funds, central banks, and heads of government in the United States and Canada.
In addition to volunteering with several other charities in Newfoundland and New York, Josh serves on the finance committee of the Grenfell Association of America in New York, which is committed to providing health care, education, and social services to the coastal communities of northern Newfoundland and Labrador. In 2017, he joined the board of the Shorefast & Shorefast social enterprise Inc, under the leadership of Zita Cobb. In 2011, he negotiated the donation and set-up of a state-of-the-art White Trading Lab at Memorial University. Josh was the recipient of Memorial's Alumni Horizon Award in 2012, and was appointed to the Innovation Council of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2017. Josh grew up in a small family business in Newfoundland and is passionate about supporting local entrepreneurship as well as promoting self-sustainability and innovation in the province.
He holds a Master's degree in International Economics from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Commerce from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

He currently serves as the captain for the team, and in his spare time assists with the junior programs. Matt’s passion for philanthropy includes his time volunteering for the Canadian Cancer Society, Rotary Club and CIBC Run for the Cure. Matt was involved in the financial services industry while studying at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Upon graduating, Matt spent time gaining experience in the residential and commercial real estate markets through his work in the construction industry. During this time, Matt gained direct knowledge of the surrounding community and the needs of the people within it. He decided to join Wood Gundy again in 2020.
He now serves clients in his capacity as an Investment Advisor—working closely with individuals and entities on identifying and achieving their financial goals. Matt works with young professionals who have a keen focus on the future of their family.
