Goals Based Financial Planning
Our team's purpose is to instill confidence in your financial journey. The foundation to achieving your objectives is built upon an established financial plan. We incorporate industry-leading planning software that is easy to use and navigate with extensive intuitive capabilities. As we work with you to provide personally-tailored solutions, the tool will support us to assess:
- Your goals in an easy to understand plan.
- Needs such as gifting and donations, or buying a recreational property in retirement.
- Dynamic "what if" scenarios.
- Tax withdrawal advantages and required rate of return at an anticipated retirement age.
Investment Implementation
After the financial plan, we follow a risk profile philosophy before creating your portfolio. The investment strategy that we follow is called Core Satellite which the Core goes into various models that we implement which are based on specific investment profiles. We concentrate attention to the structure of the investments as a whole, versus individual securities.
Our experience has shown that the selection of investments is really secondary in importance when it relates to long term success. The key to long term gains is successfully being able to maintain a portfolio without making short-term decisions that ultimately limit, reduce, or erode possible returns.
The biggest mistakes we have seen over the last decade is not with clients losing money in down markets, like 2008, but those who consistently try to time the market during times of volatility. Even if an investor manages to time their exit; we have yet to witness continued success in timing their re-entry. The most likely results are: selling near the bottom, and buying near the top. This is not a recipe for good, long term results, but a recipe for consistent investment disappointment.
