In recent months, he explains how our valued clients have experienced the weakness of Canadian dividend paying stocks, firsthand. Banks, pipelines, utilities, and REITs have had competition from GICs and bonds, for the first time in 15 years.

Ben Tal suggests that the Bank of Canada has gone too far. He expects interest rates to abate in May-July. Before that might happen though, the mere suggestion that rates have peaked has been well received in stock markets and the dividend payers in particular.
