Season’s greetings! 5 ways to maximize your holiday joy

Happiness and the holidays go together like hot cocoa and a cold winter breeze. Here are some ideas to increase your joy during the month of December.

1. Host a holiday movie marathon

Host a holiday movie marathon day! Whether it’s Eight Crazy Nights or Jingle All the Way, watching your family’s favourites on screen is a great way to be together. Gather your loved ones, pick out your preferred films or TV specials, and spend some quality time cozied-up sharing the magic.

2. Help young family members connect with Santa

Helping the youngsters in your life with their letters to Kris Kringle can be a delightful experience. And there are many ways to reach out from traditional to modern. Canada Post offers a write a letter to Santa program for traditional postal mail. For a more current approach, Santa can also be reached by email or by text message.

3. Plan an ice skating adventure

Going to the local rink is fine, but if you’re looking for something more why not try some ice skating trails and enter a winter wonderland. Parks Canada has some great suggestions. It’s a fantastic way to connect with friends and family, and gives you a healthy break from those seasonal treats.

4. Start a new family tradition

Make new memories and traditions unique to your family and friends this December. Spend a winter day in nature, or try a new winter activity. If you’re looking for something to share, maybe attempt a new spin on a family famous recipe. If you don’t have one, now’s the time to create it. Spending time and creating new traditions with family and friends is always a heartwarming way to enjoy the holidays.

5. Think about volunteering

Charities are always looking for helping hands. Make time to give back to your community this holiday season and beyond. Volunteering is a great activity at any point in the year, but making time now can go a long way. If you need some inspiration, Volunteer Canada has some great suggestions for you to consider.

We hope you and those closest to you have a wonderful holiday season. And as always, we’re here to support you, so please reach out if we can be of assistance.
