Portfolio Management
Our Can-Am portfolio structure is based on three specifically engineered disciplines designed to improve returns through reduced volatility.
Style Diversification: by maintaining continuous style diversification across the Investment Spectrum, we help reduce the roller coaster ride of a traditional "single style" equity mandate. Our quantitative models provide hard-coded sell disciplines in each of the investment sub-strategies - ensuring we are always exposed to high-ranking stocks.
Relative Strength: by maintaining a portfolio average relative strength of 75%+ at all times, we are always exposed to the top quartile of investable options. If this necessitates adding additional bonds to the portfolio, as we have done in the past, then we add more bonds. Our Relative Strength model is a highly powerful tool that helps to significantly reduce portfolio exposure to under-performing holdings, while helping to ensure significant exposure is maintained in better-trending investment options.
Strategic Weighting: by continually adjusting the weightings of the individual holding in the Can-Am portfolio to reflect both its performance slope and the volatility of trend, we maintain an optimized risk return exposure to each company held. This provides a framework to maintain an increased exposure to the strongest, risk-adjusted holdings.
We value preservation of capital above all else. We strive to outperform the broader market by unlocking opportunities in growing sectors, while eliminating exposure to sectors performing poorly. Our proactive management style gives us the ability to invest in the best companies regardless of market conditions. We are able to achieve this because of our unique portfolio management strategy and our willingness to look beyond local markets to find the highest quality investments in the best performing sectors.
The combination of sophisticated investment methodologies and 100+ years of industry experience, gives our clients peace of mind knowing they are reaching their financial goals sooner.
