Coming from a warmer climate, I have to get creative during the winter months. This alarm mimicks the natural lights of the rising sun (the wake up light gradually changes the color and brightness from dark red to bright yellow before the alarm sounds), which makes for a more soothing start to the day than the sounds of a shovel on ice.
Video may have killed the radio star, but the smartphone will never replace the retro feel of film or an old fashioned point and shoot camera – something for the camera enthusiast on your list. Reto Reusable Camera
From Pete
We’ve all had a chance to spend a lot more time outdoors these past few years than any of us would have expected. I bought these on a whim for a camping trip a few summers ago, and they were such a hit that we brought 3 more with us this year. The Luci String Lights are solar rechargeable, they charge your phone, pack up in a neat little disc, and will bring a nice warm ambience to the darkest of nights.
The conflict in Ukraine has touched all of our lives in some way or another over the past year, but that pales in comparison to the challenges facing Ukrainians this winter. At a time of rising food and energy prices, those forcibly displaced by this conflict are particularly vulnerable. I chose to Donate to the Red Cross in support of those arriving in Canada but there are a number of other ways listed here to help.
