The Geoffrey Pennal Advisory Group specializes in working with clients in the Public and Not For Profit sectors, overseeing over $900 million dollars in the space.

Our team works closely with CIBC’s industry leading Commercial Banking group to ensure our clients have access to the best services available from all corners of the Bank.

We work with Municipalities, Educational Institutions, Foundations and Charitable Organizations and we have a deep understanding of the regulations our clients must abide by, including the Municipal Act and other policy directives.

How Geoff Pennal works with Not for Profit and Public Sector clients

Geoff describes what motivates him to work with Not for Profit and Public Sector clients to help them make a difference.

 

JEFF PENNAL: My name is Jeff Pennal. I'm an investment advisor at CIBC Wood Gundy. I specialize in working with not-for-profit and public sector clients to help manage their investments. I've been working in the investment field for 20 years. Growing up, I was always interested in investing, but one of my biggest motivators was helping others. From a young age, I was actively involved in working with charitable organizations, where I loved knowing I was making a difference.

 

It's no surprise that when my career started, I naturally gravitated towards clients in the not-for-profit and public sector space. I take pride knowing when I'm helping my clients, I'm helping so many others that you support. My family and I love camping and exploring all over our beautiful province. When I come across a project or something else, I've helped support through my investments, it fills me with pride.

 

In my role I understand my client's needs to provide a good investment return, but more importantly, to pursue a return in a prudent conservative manner. Your stakeholders are relying on it, and it's my mission to make that happen. To do so, my clients rely on me to be up to date on the latest municipal regulations, investment concepts, and economic outlook.

 

Needless to say, my team is constantly striving to learn more to better help our clients.

 

Education for my clients is also a very important part of my practice. I understand that my clients need all the information possible to assist them in making the right investment decisions for their organization. I regularly present to stakeholders, help create and manage investment policy statements, and work closely with your other service providers to ensure your organization meets its goals.

 

I'm supported by a fantastic team of associates at Wood Gundy, who are dedicated to ensuring my clients' questions and needs are met in a timely, professional manner. Behind me, the team at CIBC World Markets is staffed by fixed income and economic experts. They help me navigate the traditional fixed income world while also introducing new investment concepts often before anybody else. I love knowing what I'm doing is helping so many people. I wake up excited to meet new challenges and share ideas, and I go to sleep knowing I've helped make a difference, and that's a great feeling.
