Happy Holidays - 2023 Recap
This past weekend, the Lacas family was able to continue our annual Christmas tree hunt. When you have over 100 acres of woods in Lunenburg county, the Christmas Tree capital of the world, it behooves you to wander around looking for the best tree(s) you can find. As I watched my 8 and 10 year old run through the woods with such joy, I decided that although the markets and economic conditions continue to provide challenges, I wanted to send out our Holiday note highlighting some of the joy that we, as a team, experienced this year.
Every December we celebrate CIBC Miracle Day where we donate funds from our fees to local children’s charities.
Last year, instead of taking it upon ourselves we asked you, our clients, what organizations mattered the most to you and made sure to support them as well. So this year we wanted to ask again for that feedback. As always we’ll be supporting the St. George’s Youthnet. After spending almost a decade on the board of directors, I’ve seen just how far this little organization can stretch a dollar and how big of an impact it has on the local community, but please let us know what is dear to your heart and we’ll make sure to support the top two choices again this year. Last year some of the top choices were Hope Cottage, Souls Rescue Mission and Feed Nova Scotia. They, along with others like Ronald McDonald House and CIBC Run for the Cure were some of the organizations that we supported in 2023.
Not only were we providing financial support, but also, as a team we made a conscious effort this year to get out and increase our involvement in the community. We have actually made Caroline the head of our community outreach, as it is a fundamental aspect of our core values as a team. I was always told by my grandfather that a good deed loses its value when you tell everyone about it, but after internal discussions we’ve decided as a team that we have a large reach, and we should take that reach to spread the word about the fantastic organizations that can all use a little light shining on them. In the short time that Caroline has been in this role, she has spearheaded our team, organizing us to donate a meal and time to serve it at the Souls Harbour Rescue Mission. I also would like to thank my lovely wife, Patty, for taking the time to make the food for us ahead of time. We also donated a morning to serve coffee and soup at Hope Cottage. Caroline also coordinated with one of our wonderful clients, Shirley, to donate 1000 pairs of socks to the Mission Mart and Hope Cottage. We look forward to bonding as a team and giving back to more organizations in 2024. Please let us know if you have an organization that could benefit from our time and support as we always want to support what is near and dear to your hearts.
As 2023 comes to a close, we want to send a sincere thank you to you, our clients and friends.
We take pride in what we do and will continue to work to the best of our abilities to help you reach your goals. We will also use the platform we’ve been given to try and lift up those around us.
Whatever Holiday you and your family are celebrating this year, we wish you all the best and look forward to a wonderful 2024 and beyond.
