The Landscape
When it comes to Responsible Investing (RI) there is much to discuss. Behind the headlines and articles, talking points and products, there are a number of different things going on, all with varying effects on the true responsibility of the investments. In truth, RI is an incredibly personal and subjective process. We know we have the knowledge to help guide you on this journey, and the tools to implement the plan once created.
There are three main techniques when it comes to RI Investing:
An Impactful Amalgamation
We fundamentally believe that companies who take the future into account will be better positioned for any eventual change, and will likely be the ones making that change happen themselves. We believe that this will not only benefit them financially, but it will benefit the world as policies, products, and projects push the world in a positive direction.
Our process involves three steps, two qualitative, and a final third quantitative. Firstly, we take stock of the world, the challenges it faces, and the impactful thoughts and ideas that are pushing things in a positive direction. This step identifies areas of concern, which we avoid.
Secondly, we decide upon a number of key areas where we believe positive change is being made. From these key areas we identify companies who have a track record of adding positive momentum to the cause, and who are positioned well as leaders in the future.
Thirdly, we take the identified companies and unpack them from a fundamental level. Do they make sense as investments from a financial perspective? What can we learn from their balance sheets, analyst reports, and trading history? As a final check, we utilize third party Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data to provide a final layer to our process.
