For those of us who want to give our loved ones who live far away a glimpse into our day to day, this frame comes with a quick and easy app that allows you to upload photos from your phone and voila they appear on the digital frame thousands of miles away for your friends and family to enjoy. It’s been a very cool way for us to share photos of our family here in Toronto with our family in B.C. so they feel like they’re not missing out.

Why not pair this app with some high resolution photos from a good old fashioned handheld camera? While at first glance this camera seems like a relic of the 1990s, it excels in low light conditions where your Smartphone might let you down, connects wirelessly to your phone so photos can be instantly uploaded and shared, and allows you to load preset filter “recipes” to add some depth or a vintage feel to your shots. I particularly like Reggie's Portra which throws me back to the days when you had to load Kodak Portra 400 film into the back of your camera, but there are literally thousands available online. Not using your iPhone to quickly snap a photo also forces you to think a bit about composition, light and subject before you take the shot, which has really enhanced my appreciation of photos I would normally scroll past in a second online.
